German tax ID without Anmeldung: who can use our service?

Our service is for non-German clients who live outside Germany and need help with a German personal tax ID. We accept both first-time applications and recovery of an existing IdNr. We do not accept clients residing in Germany.

First-time application or recovery?

Tell us whether an IdNr has ever been assigned to you. If you already have one but cannot find it, your case concerns recovery of that existing number rather than a second number. An IdNr remains valid for life.

  • First-time application: no IdNr has previously been assigned. If unsure, tell us before proceeding.
  • Recovery: an IdNr exists, but the number or notification is unavailable.

What “no Anmeldung required” means

You do not need German residence registration to use this overseas service. That does not mean every overseas request automatically qualifies for assignment. We review why you need the number and the appropriate route for your case.

Official procedures include an application route for certain employees who are not subject to registration. That specific route is not a universal rule for every person living abroad.

What to tell us before commissioning

Your first enquiry can be brief. Describe the purpose of the IdNr and your current circumstances before sending identity documents.

  • Your current country of residence.
  • Whether you have previously received an IdNr.
  • Why you need the number and whether you have a deadline.

If your case is unsuitable

The service fee is €500, with no additional fees. If your case is unsuitable for this service, you receive a full refund. Clients residing in Germany are outside our service scope.
